Career orientation for high school students
President of JBC Group Ms Le Thuy Trang provided career orientation and awards scholarships to poor students. Career is an important factor that determines each individual in the future
Career choice is a crucial factor determining the future of each individual. In recent years, during each university entrance exam season, more than two-thirds of candidates have opted for economic majors, while there is a significant shortage of high-quality human resources in social and technical fields. The imbalance in workforce distribution today partly stems from the limited and inadequate career guidance provided to high school students, leading them to not have the best direction for their future.
To obtain good career guidance, high school students need to meet three essential criteria. Firstly, they must have passion and a strong desire to dedicate their energy and enthusiasm to pursuing a particular profession. Secondly, they should assess their own capabilities and strengths, understanding their weaknesses and strengths to adequately prepare and choose a career path that aligns with their abilities. Thirdly, they need knowledge of career opportunities in their chosen field, understanding the labor market demands and professional prospects even while in university or vocational training, ensuring competitive opportunities in their job search later on.
Currently, high school students primarily base their career choices on personal interests and family advice, often without a clear understanding of whether their abilities align with their chosen professions. This results in many young people struggling to find employment after graduation, wasting societal educational resources and the potential of young talent.
Career education today is not solely the concern of the education sector but a broader societal issue, as high school students represent the future workforce of the nation and are pivotal in shaping the socio-economic landscape in the future.
